Dr. Morna Laing is Assistant Professor at The New School, Parsons Paris, where she belongs to the department of Art and Design, History and Theory.

Her research sits at the intersection of Cultural Studies, Media Studies and Fashion Studies. She has published widely on gender and spectatorship, including the monograph, Picturing the Woman-child (2021), which explores images of childlike femininity in the British fashion media. She is co-editor, with Dr. Jacki Willson, of Revisiting the Gaze: The Fashioned Body and the Politics of Looking (2020).

Her current writing focuses on the culture of sustainability, exploring fashion media as the site of greenwashing, and thus a barrier to social change, but also a space that holds progressive potential. The research will be published as a book, entitled Sustainability and the Fashion Media: Spectatorship, Emotion and Social Change (Routledge, forthcoming).

She lives and works in Paris.
